Treatment

Through research, we have worked with mindfulness for people suffering from brain fatigue, using the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR). MBSR has been used for nearly 40 years, with thousands of studies documenting its physical and mental health benefits. MBSR is a program with clear content guidelines to maintain the quality of instruction.

MBSR is a course with weekly sessions, each lasting 2–2.5 hours, depending on the number of participants, and includes a full-day retreat between sessions 6 and 7. MBSR is based on meditations, discussions, and home exercises, and is performed in groups.

MBSR for Brain Fatigue

We have found that mindfulness can alleviate brain fatigue and improve cognition and well-being. The meditations in MBSR are about 45 minutes long, providing time to calm down and give the brain a good rest. It is also possible to manage the full-day retreat. MBSR was helpful for acceptance, insight into behavioral patterns, and finding alternative ways in life.

The Brain Fatigue and Mindfulness Programprogram is adapted for people suffering from brain fatigue and is inspired by the MBSR program. The group meets six times, bi-weekly. This is a psychoeducative program that provides information about brain fatigue, how to cope with difficulties, and find alternative strategies to manage brain fatigue. The program includes meditations similar to those in the MBSR program.
